What this mode is, and what it is not
Trucks, drivers, trailers and carriers move over a real topology, disruptions happen, and most of them have an ordinary cause. Only what was recorded reaches the panels below, where signals are correlated into cases. The run is one sim-hour old when this page opens, because a truck’s first journey is drawn on its first tick and an unstarted world has nothing to draw. This mode is not scored — Classic Watch and Port Meridian are.

How to read this drawing
Every place and every road drawn here is a node and an edge of the one topology this simulation moves trucks over, and a truck sits where its own journey says it is — standing at a place, or a stated fraction along the road between two of them. Nothing is animated between simulation steps, so a marker moves only when the world does. What the picture cannot tell you is distance: the drawn length of a road is a consequence of the layout, and the real figure is printed on the road. Each truck carries at most one circle, and the circle is the rung it is on: no circle at all is the quiet majority; a dashed amber circle means at least one signal is currently active on it; a solid orange circle means a case that names it is open; and a doubled red circle means that open case carries one of the two highest bands the case module declares. That is an ORDER TO LOOK IN and nothing else — a signal is an observation with a lifetime, a case is a correlation of two signal types, and most cases in a run end dismissed. A truck on the top rung has had more of this simulation’s machinery pointed at it than its neighbours, which is a fact about the machinery. Selecting a truck replaces the world event strip with that movement’s own ladder, oldest first, with the rung named in words on every row; selecting a case in the case panel dims the whole network except that case’s truck, its route, the places on it and the one site the case module attached, and lights nothing else — not the carrier’s other trucks, not the other cases at the same place, because neither of those is a connection this simulation has made. Selecting a truck reads out what it is linked to and what is currently observed about it beside the drawing, and the button there opens the full entity panel over the top when you want the per-case detail. Scroll on the drawing to magnify it and drag to move around inside it, or use the VIEW group in the header — that changes which rectangle of the same drawing reaches the screen and nothing about where a truck is. The CLOCK group beside it is the other thing entirely: it changes how fast the simulation runs, or advances it, and every figure on this panel then describes a world that has moved. The port at the left of the drawing carries a press that opens the Port Meridian mode, which is a game played inside that one facility. It is a link and nothing else: no truck, no selection, no clock and no case crosses between the two, and each mode goes on deriving everything it shows from its own modules. The occupancy panel underneath states where the trucks are right now, and every figure on it names the population it was counted over — one place, one road, the whole network, or only what is inside the current view — because since the view can be magnified those four can be four different numbers that look identical. It grades nothing: no module in this build declares a capacity or a congestion threshold, so there is none to draw. The strip beside it lists the events this simulation has just recorded — when, what type, and against which entity — and nothing about why any of them happened.

Shift & Oversight Coverage

The port runs a 24h cycle. Traffic volume, which disruptions are plausible, and how much gets recorded all change with the shift. Counts below measure what was observed, not what happened -- a quiet night is a coverage artefact before it is anything else.

Sites & Observation Bias

Where a movement is decides how much of what happens to it gets written down, the same way the shift does. A gatehouse reconciles every movement; a remote depot reconciles in batch the next morning. So the counts below are counts of records, and ranking sites by them puts the best-watched site at the top. Both orderings are shown; neither is a risk ranking, for the reasons in the third card.

Fraud Network View

Entities that have co-occurred in the same case. A connection means "appeared together in a case," not an accusation -- click a node for detail, then "Trace path from here" and a second node to see the shortest chain of shared cases between them. Every entity in a case is linked to every other, so a dense little cluster from one case is guaranteed by the construction and means nothing on its own -- the structure list says which groups actually span several cases. Sites (grey, on the outermost circle) are drawn for orientation and excluded from that analysis: every movement passes through a handful of gates and yards, so a site connects to nearly everything whatever is happening.

Analyst Calibration

A mirror, not a score. Cases you closed are checked against what this simulation actually recorded about them -- not against the real world, and never to tell you that you were right or wrong.

Exposure & Cost Model

Investigative hours are measured by this simulation. The rate that turns them into money, and the value of the cargo, are stated assumptions. Expected loss and loss avoided are refused — the third card explains why, and it is there at the same weight as the other two on purpose.

Portfolio Analytics

Aggregation only — nothing on this panel is measured here, and every figure is reported against the base it was actually computed over. Percentages on a dashboard look alike and are not: some are counts over a sample of closures, and the amber ones are numbers stated in a model file, which cannot move with the data at all. Counts stay visible beside every percentage, and a rate whose base is too small to divide stays a count.
